The story behind UsBudz
From a little cabin
UsBudz began in a little cabin in the woods. Founder Wendy Calce had moved there looking for a quieter place to heal, rebuild and reconnect with life. Although the cabin offered peace and shelter, starting again in a new city without an established circle of friends could still feel deeply isolating.
“I’d love to go for coffee. I just don’t want to go alone.”
It was not a search for a date, a public profile or another place to scroll through strangers. It was simply a wish for a comfortable way to find someone with a shared interest, choose a welcoming local place and enjoy a real conversation.
That wish became the beginning of UsBudz. The idea was to place interests and availability before appearances, let people remain private until they choose otherwise, and make the first step toward connection feel less awkward and more human.
The Coffee Community is the first practical chapter of that larger vision. It begins by helping Londoners discover welcoming coffee shops, share local recommendations and feel part of something growing. Over time, UsBudz aims to help people find both the place and the buddy to go with.
